Covenant College is a liberal arts college located in Lookout Mountain in the state of Georgia. The school was founded in Pasadena, California, in 1955. The school started as an part of the Presbyterian Church. Then the next year, the theological seminary moved to Missouri. Then in 1964, the school left the seminary, and moved to Lookout Mountain in Georgia. In 1965, the school was where the merger between the Reformed Presbyterian Church and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church took place. The merger was done to form the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Evangelical Synod.
Covenant College offers courses for Bachelor of Arts, Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Science, and Master of Education degrees. The school also offers various 2 year programs. Covenant College is also home to the Chalmers Center for Economic and Community Development since 1999. The Chalmers Center offers programs and courses in economic and community development in the developing world and also the urban United States.
Covenant has a faculty and staff composed of more than 60 full time faculty members. Almost all members of the faculty have doctorates and terminal degrees, or their equivalent, in their perspective fields. The student to faculty ratio of Covenant is 13 to 1.
Covenant College competes at the NCAA Division III sports. The school is a member of the Great South Athletic Conference. Covenant fields sports teams that compete at the intercollegiate level. Among the sports include in soccer, cross country, tennis, basketball, golf, baseball, softball and volleyball. The school colors are blue and white and the school nickname are the Scots and Lady Scots.
